In addition to the contest, Atlanta youth that are interested in volunteering four hours of community service will earn tickets to a signature BMRC show at the Fox Theatre on June 9th, hosted by Nick Cannon and featuring performances by Young Jeezy, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and many more (not a bad deal if I do say so myself). Anyone interested in participating can log onto for more information.

(I wouldn’t mind going to that show myself…I wonder if 26 is too old to be considered an Atlanta youth? Prolly so huh? Oh well, at least now I can say WritersBlockMedia.Net is for the children).

Update: Congratulations to our winner, Shawn McBeth-Ramsey of Ladson, SC. Thanks to Boost Mobile Rockcorps and all the participates, but that means you can stop sending in answers.

Some Weezy tracks leaked this week, supposedly from Tha Carter III.

Lil Wayne – La La

Lil Wayne – Dying

Lil Wayne ft. Currency – Diamonds and Girls

I usually label  King covers as “So Sexy” but this cover…ummmmm…no. Nick Cannon’s Wildin’ Out Girls’ cover isn’t much better. For the first time ever King has let me down with their covers. I might be reading Smooth this month.

I’m finally back from my five day Memorial Day weekend in Miami (and Orlando) and I know the streets net missed me (sorry ya’ll…I’m here now). If you want to know how my weekend went down you can always log on to the Ozone website and catch all the pictures from this weekend here. All I’ll say is Miami is that shit…cot damnit Diddy was there for chrissake.

But everyday away from the net feels like an eternity so I have to catch ya’ll up on the news on the streets net since I’ve been gone (no Kelly Clarkson).

The award for most blog worth news stories since my absence goes to Fiddy Cent. First off the fella appeared on the ugliest Vibe cover ever. Then his album got pushed back to September but none of that shit really matters because Fiddy took his Vitamin water and laughed straight to the bank wit it for a cool $400 million, which makes him the 2nd richest dude in hip-hop behind Jay-Z (damn you Fiddy, damn you).

In Other News

Yeah, a lot of shit went down while I was kicking it in FLA this weekend. But I’m just glad I got outta Miami before Fat Joe and his goons started shooting up the place.

I’ll continue my regular blogging tomorrow. It feels good to be back.

I’ll prolly have to catch up with ya’ll next week. In the morning me and E will be headed back to Miami for Memorial Day Weekend. Don’t get it twisted, my trips to Miami aren’t fun and games. Tomorrow night there’s an OZONE party with Lil Boosie at Sobe Live and once again my black azz will be working the door all night long. It’s not that bad because I’ll get free dranks and be wasted by the time Boosie takes the stage, at which time I will be trying to holla at those fine azz Sobe Live waitresses that work the VIP tables because they’re the only chicks that I’ll have access to while I’m stuck at the door.

I’m not sure what else is going on this weekend but I’m sure it will involve me passing out magazines to people that don’t read. From what I’ve heard Miami during Memorial Weekend is dumb stupid but that doesn’t sound good for me because I’m broke and I can barely afford to take a piss in Miami (even bathroom attendants tax down there).

If you’re going to Myrtle Beach, I hope you don’t run into Get Fresh because he’s not a big fan of Black Bike Week. But whether you’re bike riding in Myrtle Beach, crabbing in Charleston, making it rain in Strokers (no Jeezy) or partying on South Beach, be safe this weekend.

(Editor Notes: My homie Charlamagne Tha God pens the Chin Check column for OZONE and I got him to write a Chin Check especially for South Carolina and the Bike Week issue. Unfortunately, Charlamagne’s Chin Check was cut down due to word length restrictions but I’m posting Charlamagne’s column on The Block in it’s entirety for The Block readers. Charlamagne is one of the few people that reps the Carolinas harder than me and everyone needs to read these words from the Hood General).

I can’t remember the last time an album that I was looking forward to coppin’ didn’t leak on the internet a week or two before it officially hit stores. Nowadays there are blogs dedicated to the leaked album phenomenon and album leaks are a key reason album sales are at an all-time low. (Shit, gas prices are high so we as consumers have to cut something down in the budget right? Sorry, artists). That and a lot of albums nowadays fuxing suck.

I remember back in high school when I used to leave school on Tuesday and head straight to Manifest in West Ashley so I could cop the new releases, and be the first one on James Island with them because everyone else was too lazy to drive to Manifest. All my friends knew I’d be the one to bring the albums back so they’d just make copies (but that’s back when people made copies on cassette tapes so it wasn’t like they could swap files with the worldwide web…yep, I’m showing my age). But that drive from James Island to West Ashley listening to a brand new album was the best feeling ever. When you open the plastic from that wrapper and put that new CD in the deck and the album bumps, it’s kinda like opening that Trojan wrapper and getting ready to smash some new…you get the picture.

But my point is, I miss the purity of New Release Tuesday. The fact that I already have Kells album on my computer takes away all the anticipation of waiting. I mean, what good are release dates anymore? Fux it, record labels and artists should just abandon the whole idea of the release date. Just have a leak date. Have a big spectacle on the internet and just leak your albums to the downloading public. Then, I’d have a Leak Date to look forward to, instead of a Release Date.

I’m kinda confused as to how albums get leaked so easily anyways. Remember when Jay-Z stabbed Un over his album leak. Or last year when Lupe started crying when his classic hit the net. But now, artists’ albums hit the net early and no one gives a damn. Shit, The Game was retarded enough to leak his album on purpose and that’s prolly why it didn’t do crazy numbers like he boasted about.

But I guess New Release Tuesday will never be the same. Artists will continue to release albums but internet junkies like myself will continue to already have the album before it drops. It is what it is but yesterday, I miss you.
