I’ll prolly have to catch up with ya’ll next week. In the morning me and E will be headed back to Miami for Memorial Day Weekend. Don’t get it twisted, my trips to Miami aren’t fun and games. Tomorrow night there’s an OZONE party with Lil Boosie at Sobe Live and once again my black azz will be working the door all night long. It’s not that bad because I’ll get free dranks and be wasted by the time Boosie takes the stage, at which time I will be trying to holla at those fine azz Sobe Live waitresses that work the VIP tables because they’re the only chicks that I’ll have access to while I’m stuck at the door.

I’m not sure what else is going on this weekend but I’m sure it will involve me passing out magazines to people that don’t read. From what I’ve heard Miami during Memorial Weekend is dumb stupid but that doesn’t sound good for me because I’m broke and I can barely afford to take a piss in Miami (even bathroom attendants tax down there).

If you’re going to Myrtle Beach, I hope you don’t run into Get Fresh because he’s not a big fan of Black Bike Week. But whether you’re bike riding in Myrtle Beach, crabbing in Charleston, making it rain in Strokers (no Jeezy) or partying on South Beach, be safe this weekend.

Female rappers desperately need Eve back to represent for the ladies. Besides my girl Shelly B., Eve is the only female rapper I fuxs wit.

“Do You” is my favorite song on Ne-Yo’s overrated sophomore album but that’s just because I get wasted on the weekends and tend to drunk-text my ex-girlfriends.

(Editor Notes: My homie Charlamagne Tha God pens the Chin Check column for OZONE and I got him to write a Chin Check especially for South Carolina and the Bike Week issue. Unfortunately, Charlamagne’s Chin Check was cut down due to word length restrictions but I’m posting Charlamagne’s column on The Block in it’s entirety for The Block readers. Charlamagne is one of the few people that reps the Carolinas harder than me and everyone needs to read these words from the Hood General).

A lot of critics have bashed this song but this is one of my favs right now. Ya’ll know R.E. loves the ladies.

I can’t remember the last time an album that I was looking forward to coppin’ didn’t leak on the internet a week or two before it officially hit stores. Nowadays there are blogs dedicated to the leaked album phenomenon and album leaks are a key reason album sales are at an all-time low. (Shit, gas prices are high so we as consumers have to cut something down in the budget right? Sorry, artists). That and a lot of albums nowadays fuxing suck.

I remember back in high school when I used to leave school on Tuesday and head straight to Manifest in West Ashley so I could cop the new releases, and be the first one on James Island with them because everyone else was too lazy to drive to Manifest. All my friends knew I’d be the one to bring the albums back so they’d just make copies (but that’s back when people made copies on cassette tapes so it wasn’t like they could swap files with the worldwide web…yep, I’m showing my age). But that drive from James Island to West Ashley listening to a brand new album was the best feeling ever. When you open the plastic from that wrapper and put that new CD in the deck and the album bumps, it’s kinda like opening that Trojan wrapper and getting ready to smash some new…you get the picture.

But my point is, I miss the purity of New Release Tuesday. The fact that I already have Kells album on my computer takes away all the anticipation of waiting. I mean, what good are release dates anymore? Fux it, record labels and artists should just abandon the whole idea of the release date. Just have a leak date. Have a big spectacle on the internet and just leak your albums to the downloading public. Then, I’d have a Leak Date to look forward to, instead of a Release Date.

I’m kinda confused as to how albums get leaked so easily anyways. Remember when Jay-Z stabbed Un over his album leak. Or last year when Lupe started crying when his classic hit the net. But now, artists’ albums hit the net early and no one gives a damn. Shit, The Game was retarded enough to leak his album on purpose and that’s prolly why it didn’t do crazy numbers like he boasted about.

But I guess New Release Tuesday will never be the same. Artists will continue to release albums but internet junkies like myself will continue to already have the album before it drops. It is what it is but yesterday, I miss you.

Khaled called to tell me last week that not only does he represent Ozone, he represents, “Raaaandy!” So I guess I have to return the representation by putting his new single on The Block.

We da best!

What used to be one of my favorite days of the week (New Music Tuesday) has become just another day of the work week. Since artists don’t release a damn thing worth coppin’ nowadays and because albums leak on the internet weeks before they hit the racks, who cares about New Music Tuesday? Well, since albums are still officially released on Tuesday, I still feel obligated to let you all know what’s been released (even if it’s a mediocre album). Now today is the day all you Young Jeezy fans can put up the USDA Cold Summer album. I heard the album in it’s entirety and I’m straight on it. Jeezy, you kinda disappointed me with this one. After three classic mixtapes and two hot albums, I think the fella felt he could just put anything in a package and call it dope but I’m not buying it. It’s not that Jeezy, Slick Pulla and Blood Raw are wack or anything, but the production is straight garbage and sounds like shit I’ve heard on a Legend of Zelda video game. But hey, some of you fools will listen and like anything so be my guest.

Trill Fam Survival of the Fittest

The only other release that I know of is this compilation from Boosie, Webbie and company. “Wipe Me Down” is my shit but I’m not a big enough Trill fan to pay for an album from a bunch of dudes with bad hair cuts.

This New Music Tuesday may have a couple releases that may intrigue average rap fans but not a hip-hop purist like myself. Matter of fact, I’m more of a R&B fan right about now and I’ll be saving my $9.98 for R. Kelly’s album next week and T-Pain’s album the following week.

Tight concept…T.I. vs. T.I.P. covers. Can’t front on that.
