Yeah, yeah, we already know T-Pain can’t sing worth a damn but you can’t front cause the dude still makes good music. I ran across this video at work today and this guy breaks down how T-Pain makes it do what it do. After seeing this video, my debut R&B album is dropping this winter.

t pain can sing, he may not have the vocal range or capabilities of usher, but he definitely can sing better than average. antares autotune does not make you hit high notes and intricate runs, it simply applies extreme tuning to what you are singing. almost every single pop singer uses autotune. t pain just uses settings of relaxed tracking and fast retuning. whats sad is that you all are watching the video and giving this dude props, he doesn’t sound half as good as t pain does nor does it prove anything. unless you cats are in the studio making hits you ought not to dick ride t pain and hate on what he’s doing. he is a talented producer, writer, rapper, poet, and singer, and i feel people should give credit where credit is due, rather than look for every possible opportunity to discredit him.

furthermore, nobody hated on roger troutman, teddy riley, stevie wonder, devonte, or peter frampton when they were using the talkbox in their recordings. the talkbox is built on a totally different premise of technology and is almost totally different from the various degrees of autotuning that are on almost EVERY MODERN recording. in all actuality, the talkbox that those artist use requires NO singing ability whatsoever to sound good, actually the more monotonous you sing yields the best results. i know amateurs and fans and haters really don’t care about the truth or the science behind what they hear, but c’mon guys, educate yourselves before you try to tear another man down!
