Now That Was A Show

Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige breezed through the ATL for the Heart of the City tour last night, and if you were in the A yesterday, and you weren’t there kill yo self, don’t worry I got you. Jay-Z and Mary are two of the best to ever do it, so there’s no need in asking how the show was…the shit was dope.

I go to a lot of concerts and shows with my profession, so I’m used to seeing artists perform, but this was some next level shit. Most of the time, I go to shows and bum azz rappers perform their bullshit hit singles and after that, they’ll try to perform some shit that one wants to hear and the audience just stands there with the Scooby Doo look.

But Hova and MJB have so many hit records that they could still be performing right now.

I’m a big Mary fan…I had a crush on her since “Real Love.” Matter of fact, the only person that I’ve ever met that doesn’t fux with Mary is Ozone’s features editor Eric Perrin, but that’s because he’s a fuxing loser. If you ask me, Mary killed the show last night (more so than Jigga). She had Philips Arena rocking for about an hour, and every women in attendance knew every song word for word (except for the bs on her new album…I don’t think anyone liked that CD). I’m gonna go ahead and say that Mary J. Blige put on the best live performance that I’ve been in attendance for.

Jigga’s set was dope too. It’s just that when the guy performs, he’s all swag, no energy. He just kinda stands there and raps, and slowly glides from one side of the stage to the other. So, I didn’t really get into his show like Mary’s (which is hip-hop blasphemy, I know). To me, the best part of Jay-Z’s show was when he brought out Young Jeezy and he let the Snowman perform his verse from the “Dey Know (Remix)” and “Bottom of the Map,” but I’m probably bias, since I’m an ATL transplant. And Jay’s “money over broads, you got it, fuck bush” segment was classic, too (Obama needs to cut Jay-Z a check for that). Oh, and Jay randomly brought out Diddy during “Encore,” (you gotta love, Diddy). But yeah, ya’ll nuccas missed all that shit. But if this tour’s still coming anywhere close to where you stay, you need to go see it.

Jay-Z performing “I Know”

I didn’t make it to the after party but my dude Sohh Gyant (hold your head, nucca) scored some footage of Usher and Jeezy performing “Love In The Club” at Studio 72, so I stole it from him.

For a complete run down of the after party, go here. From what I heard, Bey was in the building too, but they weren’t letting any cameras get anywhere near her. But Necole did find some pics of Mrs. Shawn Carter on the way to the A, but she covered up her hand with a Michael Jackson glove, so you can’t see the ring.

But anyways, for lack of better words, last night was crazy. Kanye’s Glow In The Dark tour is up next, and yep, I got tickets for that, too.
