I saw Wanted yesterday and it only took the first 5 minutes for me to come to the conclusion that this is the best movie I’ve seen in a long time. Go see it.

The Bulls took Derrick Rose from the University of Memphis. No surprise there, the dude is a beast. But for hoops fanatics like myself, this pick marks the start of the best draft of all the major sports. Ever since I was a kid I’ve been watching the NBA Draft faithfully. I used to remember the Top 10 draft picks from 1995-2003, but around ’03, I stopped following the draft because I didn’t know all the foreign players and high school all-americans that were getting drafted and now I can’t remember who was drafted 1st last year, let alone in ’03.

Still, I love the NBA. But as I watch this year, it’s a little bit different. As a kid, I used to watch the draft with excitement, as I watched college players that I looked up to get selected (while I created the players on my NBA Live video game and added them to the team that drafted them). But nowadays, I cringe as I watch kids that are damn near 10 years younger than me cash in NBA millions, while I wonder where my life went wrong. But it is what it is.

Michael Beasley, selected 2nd by the Miami Heat.

I’m still watching closely, just so I know what players I need to potentially draft for my fantasy b-ball team (I do have a title to defend next year). But you know, everyday is a potential draft day for your boy. Not in anything sports related. But being that I look at women the same way I look at a basketball lineup, I have to constantly general manage my “team.”

In cause you’re confused about what I’m referring to, you should probably go here and view a throwback post from when my girl Venom brokevdown the “Starting Five.” Basically, the Starting Five are the 5 women that play different positions in a dude’s love life. You chicks should probably read that shit, so you can figure out what position you play for your man or jump off, because I think a lot of yous get it confused.

OJ Mayo, select 3rd by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

So, when it comes to my team, I haven’t had an all-star caliber player on my roster in a couple years. The last franchise player I had was really getting buckets but after a few years, the bitch girl decided to opt out of her contract and honestly, my team hasn’t been a playoff squad since. I’ve had a lot of players come through, some with all-star potential but none of them really panned out. Mostly, I’ve had a bunch of journeywomen, that suit up for your boy, play some minutes but when it comes to long term deals, I never put offers on the table, so they pretty much end up signing with other teams and I just end up replacing them with our players. Did ya’ll get all of that? Try to keep up.

But the other day, I decided to make a blockbuster deal. I have one player on my team, shawty has mad potential but she’s only been playing limited minutes. And my line brother had a situation with a player on his team and with contract negotiations not really going in his favor, and me recognizing the trade potential in my player, I decided to offer him a trade.

The Trade went like this:

Line Brother gets
A future 1st round draft pick
A player to be named later
Sr. AKA from Winthrop University

R.E. gets
Sr. AKA from the University of South Carolina

I know, I’m giving up a lot in this trade. But I’m banking on the fact that I can immediately move this player into the starting five and she can play big minutes and help my team a lot in the future. Where as the player I’m trading, (while I’ll hate to see her go), she’s been on the team for awhile now, and I don’t think she’ll ever be more than a solid player off the bench. But she’ll probably be a star on another squad.

Russell Westbrok and Kevin Love, selected 4th and 5th by the Seattle Supersonics and Memphis Grizzles, respectively.

Hey, this is how guys think. Every time a new chick comes along, we think about what position they can play for our team. Does she have the all-star point guard skills to play wifie and run the team? Or is she more of the power forward, down to do the dirty work and pound the headboards type broad? We ask ourselves these kinda things (or at least I do). Now, I’m about to go on Facebook and scout some more prospects. But before I go, ladies and gentlemen…Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

I swear this is the last “A Milli” anything that I’m posting on The Block. I’m so fuxing tired of this beat, but Gem is my dude, so I’ma drop this vid for him. But after this, I don’t care if Jesus drops an “A Milli” freestyle, I don’t wanna hear it.

I was having problems with my Treo last week, the fuxing phone wouldn’t charge. I mean, it charged…But it charged when it wanted to charge. I can’t lie, I was starting to get tired of the b*tch. You know, I’ve had so many problems with my Treo, it was like being in a bad relationship (so, I’m gonna speak about my phone as if it were a woman). Like, I love her but sometimes it’s that I-just-wanna-slap-the-shit-outta-her type love.

So, I took my phone to the Sprint store to get it looked at, because I pay that insurance fee every month, so they better fix my shit. Anyways, I gave my Treo to the guy at the store. He looked at it and said, “Let me take it to our tech, I’ll be right back.” As dude made his way to that backroom (you know, I always wanted to know what was in the back back room in the Sprint store. They probably have a bunch of nuccas from the Best Buy Geek Squad back there putting in work. But I’ve always just wanted to see. But whatever, that’s not important), that’s when it happened…I heard someone say, “Let me upgrade u.”

My first thought, it was one of them Sprint nuccas trying to sell me a new phone, but I was wrong. No one was there. Then I heard it again, “Partna, let me upgrade u.”

WTF!?!?! “I know this phone ain’t talking to me,” I thought to myself. But it was and the conversation that followed blew my mind.

RE: Are you talking to me?
Sprint Phone: Yeah, I overheard your conversation. Treo, I can’t stand that b*tch. You need to let me upgrade u? What’s ur name?
RE: LOL. Huh? I’m Randy but everyone calls me RE.
Sprint Phone: Yeah, I’ve heard of u.
RE: What? What you mean, u heard of me?
Sprint Phone: Nucca, I’m connected to the net. I be on The Block.
RE: Oh word? That’s what’s up. Well, what’s ur name? Are u the iPhone.
Sprint Phone: Nah, I’m Instinct. I’m way hotter than that iPhone hoe.
RE: Oh, I think I heard about you. My LB mentioned u the other day.
Instinct: Yeah, I’m that new b*tch on this block. Did u see my trailer in the movie theaters?
RE: Nah, I don’t really go to the movies.
Instinct: Well, sit down at that computer over there, hun. I wanna show you something. Just push the start button.

(Re sits and pushes start button. Video ensues)

RE: Damn, ur a bad b*tch. I mean that in a good way.
Instinct: So, what’s up. U gotta let me upgrade u or what?
RE: Nah, I mean, I’m not looking for a new phone. Me & Treo, we have our problems but she’s good. We’re good.
Instinct: How long yall been together?
RE: About a year and a half.
Instinct: LOL. It’s definitely time for an upgrade.
RE: Well, I have been thinking about it. But everybody’s been telling me to get a Blackberry. But IDK.
Instinct: What! A Blackberry. Please, that b*tch don’t got nothing on me. She’s ok. But everybody’s been with her. And…she talks too much. Always BB messaging someone and up in somebody’s chat. Ur business will be all over the place. Don’t doubt urself, trust me you need me.
RE: I can’t lie, u r kinda sexy. But what about Treo?
Instinct: U need a real woman in ur life. Take care of ur calls & still fly. (I’ma good look). I’ma help ya build up ur account (I’ma good look. Better yet a hood look. Nucca I’ma good look). When ur in the meeting for the mills, you take me just to compliment the deal.
RE: Aight, aight, cut the Beyonce. I don’t even like that song.
Instinct: Nucca, u know what I’m saying. Treo is cool, but forget that hoe. I’m the new b*tch that you need in ur life. Easy web browsing, GPS system, live TV, pictures, video, radio…partna let me up grade u, grade u. Partna let me upgrade u, grade u.

Needless to say, she got me, fam. I’m rolling with Instinct now. I mean, Treo…She was good for me. She came into my life during a time that I needed her, she taught me new things but at the end of the day, we had too many problems. Now, it’s me and Instinct. The ’08 Bonnie & Clyde….Instinct & me.

Ya’ll knew this post was coming, don’t act surprised.

younG Burna and R.E.

When I first started this blog, I did it so that I could have an outlet to voice my opinion on how I was feeling or what music I was listening to or the artists that I was into or what have you. I just needed to be able to say what I wanted to, when I wanted to. And in doing that, I’ve been able to showcase artists in South Carolina that otherwise would go unnoticed. Not to be self-centered or anything but The Block is the #1 source for SC music (if I do say so myself), and that’s another reason I do this shit. Yeah, I do cover mainstream artists, but if you want constant updates on T.I. or Shawty Lo or 50 Cent and Kanye West, you can go to another blog. I put on my city state over here.

So, I dropped a post yesterday, featuring a new track from my homie younG Burna…I mean, my blog isn’t the most trafficked site on the web but it gets enough visitors for cats to take notice. I was on Myspace a little earlier, and Burna dropped a blog, just talking about how having me show love by putting his track on The Block and having cats show love to him in the comment section gave him hope.

To be real, it feels good to play my part in giving inspiration to a young artist. That’s why I do this. I do this for ya’ll. Keep making that music, Burna. Not just Burna, all of you. Every artists that’s out there and making music for the love of this shit, keep doing. I’m not gonna like and support everyone’s music, and if I’m not feeling it, I might just tell you to eat a d*ck (no homo) but keep grindin’ nonetheless. For every artists out there making what I deem as quality music, thank you. Ya’ll nuccas make what I do worth it and I appreciate.

Check younG Burna’s blog post after the jump.
