Dear Lauren,

I don’t know if you’ve ever read my blog. But if you search your name on The Block, you’ll find at least 25-30 posts about you (hell, maybe more). I’m not a stalker, although that is kinda stalkerish. It’s just that…I’m your #1 Fan. All these other nuccas, they just started checking for you. But me…you had me since ATL. I don’t know what it is. Your beauty skin, your sultry eyes, your dimples, or maybe it’s your girl next door image. Whatever it is, you got me open like Steve Urkel to Laura Winslow. I know that’s not the best comparison, but if I had the chance, I could be your Stephon. Ok, I’m just babbling now, but you have that effect on me. Look, Lauren. I know you’re in Atlanta for Ludacris weekend. And I’m going to try to find you tonight. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to meet you and not get snatched up by security. I mean, everyone on the internets already know how I feel. But there’s something I’ve been dying to tell you:

*Cue the Lionel Richie*

I’ve been alone with you inside my mind
And in my dreams I’ve kissed your lips a thousand times
I sometimes see you pass outside my door
HELLO, is it me you’re looking for? I can see it in your eyes
I can see it in your smile
You’re all I’ve ever wanted, (and) my arms are open wide
‘Cause you know just what to say
And you know just what to do
And I want to tell you so much… I love you …

I pray that I see you tonight, Lauren.

Your #1 Fan – R.E.

Ok, so I’m not nominated for an Espy. But I am nominated for an award at the Southeast Music & Entertainment Summit. The SMES was founded by James Heyward and my dude Tony “Chubbz” Marcus in 2001. It’s a music festival that shows some love to independent artists from South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, and this year, the SMES is a three-day event going down in Myrtle Beach, SC, September 26th – 28th. They’re having different showcases, panels (I’m on one of them), workshops, parties, and the awards show on that Sunday the 28th.

The award that I’m nominated for is called the “Bridging the Gap” award. By definition of the SMES: “This award is dedicated to the individual or company that bridges the gap between the regions and helps it grow and showcase independent and unsigned artist.” (I’m glad they put that description up because I wasn’t really sure what that award was about. And thru The Block, Ozone and, that’s pretty much what I’ve been doing).

If anyone is interested in voting for your boy, you can go to the SMES nominations page and cast a vote for me, (R.E. aka Randy Roper):

Vote for SMES Bridging the Gap Nominees Here

Shouts out to my homie Shekeese the Beast and my peoples over at One Love Marketing Group, who are nominated in the category, too. Oh, yeah, voting ends on September 1st, which is like Sunday or something. I know I’m pretty late with posting it, but I’ve always been a last minute kinda guy. Even in grade school, I used to start work on science projects the night before they were due.

But for real though, it’s not about winning. It just feels good to be nominated and recognized by my peers. You know, I’ve never really been nominated for anything, so I just wanna thank Chubbz and James Heyward for doing this event, and for showing love to myself and all the other people nominated for awards (shit, I think everyone I’ve ever met in SC music is nominated at least once).

I started my journalistic career by interviewing unsigned and independent artists, and no matter what, I’m gonna continue to show love to my indie artists, because there will always be talented individuals that make quality music and deserve the chance to be heard from.

Anyways, for more info on the SMES, log on to I’ll prolly see some of you out there. Get at me if you see me.

I’ve been kinda keeping an eye on this story about schools in Clayton County, because it’s over in the side of Atlanta that I reside (College Park, Riverdale, Forest Park area a.k.a. The Hood). Well, Clayton County schools have been in a fight to keep their accreditation, and yesterday they basically lost that battle.

(Read story here)

That’s really fuxed up, because thousands of students may have trouble getting into college, and/or problems with getting student loan money and scholarships. I don’t have any kids (at least none that I know of), so I didn’t follow this story as closely as I could have, but hearing a story like this is some sad shit. Kids are basically attending a Clayton County high school for 4 years and ending up with an unaccredited high school diploma. WTF!?!?

Clayton schools can regain their accreditation if the district meets mandated within the next year, but that’ll take for some Joe Clark type shit to happen, but let’s pray that it does.

I never thought I would have been so thankful to have graduated from a high school in South Carolina. JIHS, baby! Let’s hope Clayton county gets it together soon. Kids nowadays are fuxed up enough as it is.

Tonight is a very, very big night. Tonight my alma mater, the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, kickoffs the 2008 College Football season vs. the NC State Wolkpack on ESPN. Also, Barack Obama speaks at the Democratic National Convention, so like I said, tonight’s a big night. Ya’ll know how much I love football season, and I wish I could be in Columbia at Williams-Brice stadium for tonight’s game, but since I can’t make it, me and my homeboy decided to throw a house party in Atlanta (well, it really was my idea). I love having get togethers, I really don’t need a good reason to, so tonight is the (Game)cocks & Barack party. My homeboy wanted to call it the Cock & Barack party but I vetoed that because it sounds borderline homo.

So, I invited all my Carolina Gamecock graduates that live in Atlanta over to my house (and I invited a couple people that didn’t go to USC), to watch the game and Obama’s speech. Chicken wangs + beer + pizza + football + women + Barack = Good Times!!!

You know, this is the first time I’ve ever really paid close attention to politricks. Now that I’m older I’m trying to be more aware of the government issues and where my taxes dollars are going, especially since the economy is fuxed the fux up. I came down stairs to watch the DNC last night, I have a homegirl that’s crashing at my crib right now, and this mutha was watching Project Runway. I was like, “nigga! If you don’t turn the channel to MSNBC!” I had been watching it from my bedroom, but you know, a nucca wanna watch prime time on the big screen. Project Runway was going off, so it wasn’t a big deal and I got to watch Jump Off Joe Biden’s speech from the living room, talking about, “John McCain was wrong, and Barack Obama was right!” Jump Off!! That’s my nickname for Joe Biden, you know, cause him and Joe Budden were separated at birth. My dude BlogXilla said via Twitter, “ F’ Jump off Joe Biden I’m bout to start calling him Joey Two Times cause he be saying things two times!!” But I’m gonna stick with Jump Off.

Anyways, I can’t wait for tonight. Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks are starting junior Tommy Beecher at quarterback. I’ve never heard of him, but if he’s running a Steve Spurrier offense, he can prolly throw the pigskin pretty good, so I’m with him. Our defense is usually damn good, so that’s what really makes. Oh yeah, fux Clemson! And Georgia too!

And to all my Barack Obama supporters, “yes, we can.”

And to all my South Carolina Gamecocks, “G0! Fight! Win! Kick Ass!”

It’s gonna be a good night.

My girl Lasandra called me the other night and told me she was gonna be in a video with some of her friends for some dudes outta SC called the Transfers. I told her not to do it. I wasn’t trying to rain on her parade, (but video girls don’t really get the best rep in the business), but she doesn’t always listen to what I tell her, so she did it anyways. Here’s the video, it’s a song about being a “Lay Up Girl,” which is pretty much the same thing as being a “bust it baby.” I’m not gonna give my opinion on the song or the video, I’m just dying over Lasandra and her girl making it roll at the end of the video. Wait, did that nucca just say, “I like to watch the cum drip down her azz crack?” *SMH*.

Shouts out to the hater that left this comment under my last South Crack: The Album post. Obviously this nucca is looking for attention, so I’m gonna give him some shine:

Mack45 aka “Mad Cause We Shinin’ On Him” says:

You guys have nothing better else to do. The CD is dry. Charlamagne is also. Randy you and Charlamagne need to lay in the bed together. I agree with Queen and Martin. Yes it is Wendy Williams Show, but when you suck Dick (sorry:( a long headed pussy) then you should have some pull. You both are workers ( clock in-clock out) So don’t run around talking about..Oh I’m the Music Editor..Oh, I’m the co-host when all you are as a staff workers with no pull. Charlamagne we all know Kevin Hunter have the remote button on your ass. That is why your sorry ass is always in South Crack. You need someone to suck “Yes! your sorry as Stupid Dope Dick”. I’m surprise it didn’t drop off yet. Your baby Mama is a ugly hoe!!!!You both come back home to host, throw parties etc: Because ATL and NYC don’t like you sorry asses. That is why you Randy always have ro remind people who you are. Walking around with Tee Shirt’s say ” I’m famous here in South Carolina” ( what ever the fuck it say’s) Because your not famous no where else. You guys are so so so so sorry.Blue Collar Workers..
By the way the CD may have sold 20,000 copies, but I guess with $1.99 you MADE people buy it. Try to sell it for $10 and see how many people would buy it. Shit! your in Store only had what??? 20 people the most. Sorry Stupid Dope Move House Nigga. You picked the right name: Stupid ( that is what you are) Dope ( you look like one) Move ( becasue you make moves to hate on nigga’s).

Ha! Why so serious? That might be the best hater comment I’ve ever seen on The Block. Why you mad at me? Because my homeboy dropped a CD with artists from my home state and I use my blog as an outlet to support them? Wow. You sound like a hater to me, homie. Luckily, I’m confident in myself and my life, that comments like these effect me in no shape, form, or fashion. I mean, if me or Charlamagne fuxed your girl, or if you gave me a CD and I told you the shit sucked, I’m sorry. But you know, what…life’s good, bruh. I wish you the best in whatever you’re doing with your hater life.

I’m gonna file this one under “hater niggas marry hater bitches and have hater kids.” (c) Kanye West “Bring Me Down”

South Crack: The Album is available online for $1.99 here. Hi Haters!

I stumbled across this song with Drake and Lil Wayne called “I Can Take Your Girl” and that’s pretty much the only song I’ve been listening to all week. It’s a hot song, if you can get passed Weezy’s auto-tune overuse, but dude’s been using that vocoder so damn long, I’m starting to get used to it (he still sounds bad tho). Drake is prolly my favorite unsigned artist. Dude goes in on the mic and I can relate to a lot of the shit he raps about, but that’s because he usually raps about getting at chicks, and that’s all I really give a damn about nowadays. I can relate to “I Can Take Your Girl,” even though I don’t like to deal with women that have a man. I used to be on shit like that back in college and high school, but I’m a little more grown up now, and I don’t like to mess up a happy home, unless a girl is just throwing it, but I’m not gonna pursue a chick that’s wifed up. I still love the song tho. Here are my Top 10 fav songs of the week, and don’t forget to drop your fav songs in the comment section. You guys put me on new shit sometimes.
