Even though I’m an adult and I shouldn’t embrace music created by kids that have no damn sense, I’ve learned there’s nothing wrong with an occasional ignorant azz song every now and then, and with that said I’ve come to appreciate and like this new group from Atlanta called Travis Porter (btw, I haven’t learned their names individually, but none of them are named Travis).

I first heard about them when they were beefing with Young Dro and Yung LA about who came up with “Black Boy, White Boy,” and that video where they’re calling Young Dro old was kinda funny. My dude DJ Teknikz fuxs with them, as he would say, “the long way,” so he’s kinda the one to put me on to them when he hosted their I’m a Differenter mixtape. I mean, I listened it and they had some catchy records on there, and then they had some really, really, wack tracks on there, but what could you expect from a bunch of young dudes that rock mohawks. (You know, the tall darkskin one actually gets his haircut at the same barbershop I go to, but I didn’t see which barber cuts his hair like that, but thankfully it wasn’t mine).

Nonetheless, I heard some songs that kinda made me a fan. Plus, I heard these dudes have the teen clubs on smash. I wouldn’t really know since I stay away from teen clubs, for fear of catching a charge for approaching an over developed teenage girl. But my people that do hit those clubs keep me in the loop.

Their second mixtape with DJ Teknikz I’m a Differenter 2 came out about a week ago, and I must admit, I like this one a little better than the first one. I think what I like most about this group is their catchy, easy to sing-a-long with hooks. See, they sound so bad singing it, but its so annoyingly catchy that even though they can’t sing, I can’t sing either, so knowing that they sound terrible empowers me to feel comfortable in sounding bad while singing a long with them. Did ya’ll get all thought? Probably not, but I think that’s Travis Porter’s approach to music, and it’s genius.

Anyways, “Turnt Up” is one of the songs that I really like off the new mixtape (and totally different from most of their songs), and I think it’s gonna be a club banger. So, I got the none DJ version from Teknikz, because no one really wants to hear a DJ screaming over a song they like. And I figured some of you all might wanna download it and play it at a party or something. Well, just check the song out, I’m willing to bet my money that it’s gonna be a club smash in Atlanta and beyond within the next few months. But if it’s not, good luck with getting that money from me.

My girl Alexis just interviewed Travis Porter, so you can read the interview here. And a video from a party they had the other night is after the jump.
