I’m sure you all already know this, especially my Carolina readers, but South Carolina native, Lil Ru, released his debut album on Def Jam yesterday. If I’m not mistaken, this is the first album released by a South Carolina rapper on a major label, so its extremely important for the Carolinas to support the lil homie. I actually went to Best Buy in Charleston to buy it yesterday, but they didn’t have it (which isn’t a good look, considering they didn’t even have the CD in a location just hours away from his hometown), but I’ll try to find it somewhere else today. I know a few people have heard it, but since I haven’t, I can’t really speak on it. At any rate, go cop that Lil Ru album. SC, all day.

i went out and bought the album to show support. i didn like it. i honestly try to give it a chance. i listened to it about 4 times already. to me he didn sound like the ru that is hype when he raps. i really can’t explain it….it just seemed different. even if i was a true fan of his i’m not sure i would have liked it….anyway i do wish him success and maybe his next one will be a classic.

i got it. it’s alright too–not gonna front. but, i was reading through the credits and um, i only see like one dude from SC working on the project (Nasty Song). i’m a little disappointed in that but i can say for sure if that statement is true.

and didn’t Infinity THA Ghetto Child (Charleston) have a major label debut?

Yo Randy, turns out Ru is not the 1st SC artist to drop an album under a major label…Infiniti The Ghetto Child did it in the early 2000s link below

The album is good to me but coulda used a couple more good street or ridin songs to balance it out with all the female oriented tracks which were good but were literally 75% of the album……I heard it only sold around 1500 1st week which is a shame….Nasty Song could have been bigger than it is and the 1 w/ Ross could do something…his promo people aren’t doing the album justice….it doesn’t help that he’s feuding w/ Charlamagne and still signed to him…speaking of why all the beef and hate w/ Ru??? what happened between him and Chalamagne and everyone else???? why does Boss G and Collard Green and everyone dislike him all of a sudden???

Damn, how did I forget about Infiniti? He was one of the first rappers I ever interviewed, and to be honest, that was probably one of the best interviews I’ve ever had. Ironically, he blamed everything on Charlamagne and them too. lol.

Da Playva (Da Carolina Pathfindaz) was signed to Solar Records (Home of Lakeside, Shalamar & Midnight Star) back in the early 90′s. They were from Charleston.
