Ok, so here’s the deal. Back in 2007 I put together what I called RandyExclusive.Com’s First Annual SC Music Year End Awards. Basically, I gave out awards, just as a way to recognize South Carolina artists, DJs and producers that had did their thing in 2007. Then 2008 came and I didn’t do one, partially because I was lazy and because it was a hard thing to do since I don’t even live in SC anymore. So, 2009, I decided to bring it back, but this year I reached out to some of my SC media kinfolk to make it super official. So, the South Carolina Online Hip-Hop Awards committee consists of myself, my dude Steelz from On Point Magazine, my girl Ms. Chriss from TheLyfeStyle.com, shawty over at CarolinaHustle.com and my dawg KJ formerly of Brown Derby, who now has his Higher Learning blog going.
So, the committee came up with the best of the best in 2009 South Carolina Hip-Hop. And before you get your panties in a bunch over the nominees, please note that since it’s an online awards, internet presence was more so the dominating factor in deciding the categories. Also, I know some of ya’ll about wondering why we didn’t include North Carolina. I mean, I love my NC people, but to be honest, I don’t know enough about NC to know who did what, and J. Cole would probably win all the awards, so we’ll have to roll as just SC.
The awards nominees are below, and the winners will be announced on Friday. Congrats to everyone nominated, and lets keep SC hip-hop pushing in 2010.
