To be honest, I had all intentions of watching my alma mater University of South Carolina take on the #1 ranked Kentucky Wildcats, but then my homegirl was in town from NY and since my schedule is looking kinda booked for the weekend, last night was the only time I’d have free to hang with her. And since I figured the Gamecocks would get their asses whipped (much like they do in most major sports when we face a ranked opponent), I pretty much kicked it with my big sis and forgot all about the Carolina vs. Kentucky game.
But around 11:05, as me and my homegirl were trying to figure out where the fux Don Cannon was, I got a text from my lady friend, telling me that Carolina was up 4 against Kentucky with 1:44 left (which I would encourage all men to find a shawty that watches sports, kick those non-sports-watching heffas to the curb and watch how much better your life gets).
So, I logged on to Twitter (you know, since it the #1 source for up to the minute news nowadays, and lo and behold, my timeline was going ham with all the Carolina/Kentucky tweets. Then, I logged on the ESPN.com and it was true, the Gamecocks were up on the Wildcats.
Seems like I was missing a classic, as Devan Downey was going stoopid on Kentucky, dropped 30 pts and lead the Gamecocks to a 68-62 win. Man, I know 5 Points in Columbia was rocking last night and I kinda sorta wish I was there. I mean, I haven’t felt this good to be a University of South Carolina graduate since…sh!t, probably the day I graduated college (hey, we don’t win a lot of ballgames in SC). Its days like this that I’m proud to be from South Carolina. Days like this…not so much. But it’s still SC all damn day. And go Gamecocks!
