Well ladies and gentlemen, the numbers are in for last week’s album sales, and according to Billboard, Eminem’s Recovery is the #1 album for the fifth week in a row after selling 187,200 copies (bringing it’s grand total to 1,669,600), and topping Ricky Rozay’s Teflon Don, which sold roughly 176,300 units in it’s first week.

Basically…Ross lost.

I told ya’ll nuccas Rick Ross wouldn’t sell over 200k…I think it was the titties. Well that and the fact the he lacks a strong female fan base, and chicks buy records more than nuccas do. Especially nuccas that think they’re Big Meech…they don’t buy music at all. Couple that with the fact that Rick Ross doesn’t have a Top 40 single off Teflon Don on the chart that really matters, (“B.M.F.” is No. 82 if you’re keeping score at home) and it’s obvious why Ross didn’t sell more albums. I mean, it’s actually more amazing that Eminem is still at the top spot after five weeks…that guy has some true fans.

Not to take anything away from Rick Ross because selling 187,200 albums in one week is still an accomplishment. But when your album has Jay-Z, John Legend, Cee-Lo, Jadakiss, T.I., Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Gucci Mane, Drake, Styles P, Chrisette Michele AND muthaf@ckin’ Raphael Saadiq, just off features (and I didn’t even mention the producers), that’s one hell of an album budget, and I know Def Jam wants their effin’ money back.

Of course, you can’t judge an album’s success off one week alone, but since we’re in a culture that hangs on to first week numbers like it’s the final score at Super Bowl, artists and labels do like putting up good numbers after 7 days. And in this case, Ross did good, but not good enough. Or like Ricky Bobby would say, “If you’re not first, you’re last.”

I don’t know much about this Tigo B. dude from the Raleigh/Greensboro side of the Carolinas, but I’ve heard his name a few times, and his video with Waka Flocka magically appeared in my inbox today. Check it out.

This just landed in my inbox and I thought it was pretty cool. CuDi’s new album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager drops on September 26th aka G.O.O.D. Music Day.

It’s good to see Mayer Hawthrone has all the of hoes promiscuous girls. I think I like his music even more now.

Well ya’ll, Ricky Rozay’s fourth album, Teflon Don, hits stores today, and like we always do around this time when a major album is released, it’s time to throw out some sales predictions. Now, I will say that Teflon Don is a very solid body of work (4 chicken sandwiches in my opinion), not classic like a lot of people are hollering, but it is a pretty good album. But sales wise, I don’t see Ross doing more than 200,000 first week, which isn’t bad at all, and it’s a step up from the 158,000 that he sold when Deeper Than Rap came out last year. But is it Drizzy Drake numbers? No.

I could be wrong, but even though he makes good music, and I think most people are over the fact that he’s was a security guard turned cocaine rapper, he’s still a fat boy that likes showing off his titties, and I don’t think chicks really dig that. I’m saying, chicks make up a strong percentage of the buying public, and I don’t ever really hear women I talk to screaming over Rick Ross. So that says to me that the 150,000 – 500,000 albums that Ross sells is based off people that actually support him for making quality music, which isn’t enough to ever go platinum, but it’s a good consumer base, nonetheless.

So like I said, the hoes promiscuous girls ain’t effin’ with Rozay, so I’m predicting he’ll get an extra 40,000 albums sold based off his new network with Puffy, which will bring his first week grand total to about 200k (and it’ll eventually go gold).

I mean, I could be wrong, but that’s my theory. Thoughts? Predictions? What do ya’ll think?

For episode 52 of me and Nanci O’s Where Is Hip Hop radio segment, we tried to predict the winners for the 2010 SC Music Awards. Listening back to the show, and then looking at the winners, we weren’t too far off with most of the winners.

Well, the numbers are in, and according to Billboard, Eminem’s seventh album, Recovery, moved 741,00 units in its first week, making it Eminem’s sixth straight #1 album, and the 2nd highest first week sales for a digital album in history at 255,000 (2nd only to Coldplay’s Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends at 288,000).

Let the hip-hop chuuch say… well damn. I guess this goes to show that people will go out and support your music if they’re moved to. If you’re wondering, Em’s Relapse album sold 608,000 copies in it’s first week last year. The difference here, 133,000 heard Relapse and figured that ish was wack, so they didn’t buy it. But hats off to Em for coming correct this time.
