Last night in Atlanta, Drizzy Drake and his Club Paradise Tour made its way to that ATL (shawty). Since I’m an Atlanta resident and have been for about five years now, I try not to miss any major concerts that come through town, and I was fortunate enough to catch Drake’s show yesterday.
Club Paradise was probably the craziest concert I’ve ever been to, but that’s partially because it was held at an outdoor stadium and it started raining about an hour into the show. But f*ck it, that sh-t was still turned up, even through the rain.
Drake, J. Cole, Waka Flocka, 2 Chainz, Meek Mill and French Montana, all on the same ticket (it was worth every penny).
TDE rapper SchoolBoy Q had a show in Atlanta this week and for those that didn’t make it or that ain’t up on Schoolboy yet, here’s a quick recap courtesy of MDD.
Freddie Gibbs, Dom Kennedy and Juicy J had a show in Atlanta about a week ago, and although I wasn’t at the event, my MDD homies were there and got some video clips. I meant to post this a few days back but I forgot. My bad. I be trippy mane.
Well you see the flyer…. Friday October 21st will be a big day in South Carolina hip-hop. The Righchus Renaissance starring Benjamin Starr, OxyMoron, warrenJae and Righchus, taking the Charleston, South Carolina Music Farm stage in a major way.
If anyone in Atlanta is looking for something to get into amongst the BET Hip-Hop Awards events this week, Kendrick Lamar and Dom Kennedy have a show at the Masquerade tonight. Cyhi The Prynce and Dee-1 are on the bill too. Doors open at 8 pm. Should be a pretty dope show. See y’all there.
I went to the Kendrick Lamar, Cory Gunz and CyHi The Prynce show in Atlanta this past weekend, presented by the Jeanocide, and while I’m not going to sit here and act like it was the best show ever, I will say CyHi The Prynce did his thing, the homie REi did his thing, FKi did their thing and Kendrick Lamar definitely did his f*cking thing.
As for Cory Gunz…I mean, during the 20 years this kid has been rapping, he hasn’t made one song worth listening to more than once, so I’m not even surprised his show sucked. Nobody really wanted to see him in the first place, but most people figure if we had to sit through a Cory Gunz show to get to see Kendrick Lamar it wouldn’t be painful (we were wrong though).
We don’t really do that stand in the middle of the stage and rap really fast thing in the South. Nucca, you better put on a effing show…which Cory Gunz didn’t, which is why he got booed (check his performance in the cut).
I was about to write a whole long ass story about how Cory Gunz held up the show being hella late and then got there thinking he was supposed to be the headliner, but then found out he was going on before Kendrick and got pissed off, so he put on the worst show I’ve ever seen an “established” artist do. But I decided not too…
But my homie Maurice has a good review on the show here.
Note To New York: Cory Gunz will never save you. Never.
