Well ladies and gentlemen, as I write this, it’s about two hours until the opening kickoff of Southern Mississippi and my Carolina Gamecocks, the start of College Football and the beginning of my favorite time of the year. Yes, folks, once again it’s football season. And I don’t know where all my readers are from, but down here in the dirty dirty…football is life.

Actually, I never played a game of football in my life, but somehow my closest friends in life ended up playing Division-I and professional football, so the old pigskin just kinda sorta became my favorite sport through them. Well, basketball is still my favorite sport, but football is just my favorite sports season. Going to a school like the University of South Carolina, where their really isn’t much else to get excited about. I mean, our baseball team is usually pretty damn good each and every year, but I lack the attention span to sit through a whole game. Our track team is pretty fuxing awesome too and I love the way the track girls are literally built like horses, but I’ve never been to a Carolina track meet. And our basketball team…well they just suck.

And that leaves our football…now granted, we’ve never had a national championship caliber football team, but win or lose, I’m proud to be a Gamecock. And I don’t wanna hear sh!t about how the Gamecocks football program ain’t this and ain’t that, you know what, at least we have a football program. And not only that, we play in the greatest football conference collegiate athletics has ever seen…the SEC. In a conference like the SEC where you play Georgia, Florida and Tennessee on a yearly basis, and Alabama and Auburn every other year, as long as we walk away with a winning record and beat the ish outta Clemson, that adds up to a good year in Gamecock country.

As mediocre as those expectations might be, it’s not about who wins or loses, it’s about the season. Hell, a nucca can only watch but so many reruns of True Blood and Entourage during the week. We need football, and it’s finally back. Finally. That sports period between the end of basketball season and the beginning of football season is the fuxing worst. Ain’t really ish else for a nucca to do but turn on the Trey Songz and smash some hoes promiscuous girls. I’m not saying that’s what I do when baseball is the only sport on TV, I’m just saying…I’m glad football is back.

It’s the season of tailgates, beer, chicken wings and hot chicks that ask questions during the game cause they don’t know what the fux is going on. But I love this time of the year. Welcome back football fans. Salute to my Gamecocks brethren. One time for my fantasy football advocates. This is our year. It’s our season. It’s game time.
