The summer is over and fall has officially creeped up on us, but I did a quick look back at Summer 2011 and put together a Top 25 Rap Songs of the summer list for HipHopWired.com.
I took into consideration a bunch of things—popularity, Billboard charts, single sales, Youtube views, radio play, club presence, whatever the fux I think is dope, etc.—and in the end, as far as I’m concerned, DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One” featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross will be remembered as the #1 song of the summer.
If I’m not mistaken, the song has been on the Billboard Hot 100 for straight 18 weeks, which is pretty much for entire summer. It’s currently #1 on both of Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts. And aside from that, I just remember hearing that sh-t more than anything else over the past 3 months, so yeah…YMCMB won.

I swear Khaled has done this song already. Same beat, same hook, same line up of artists…but this sh!t still bangs though. This “Welcome To My Hood” song is basically “I’m So Hood” 2.0. But I guess in the case of DJ Khaled Khaled, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, just throw some YMCMB t-shirts on it and keep it moving.
