These guys have been on hiatus, but I’m glad they’re back. The internets haven’t been the same without them.
Consequence has a new album coming out or maybe it’s already out. I don’t know cause I don’t check for him like that. This video is kinda cool though. For the girls at least.
I would have updated The Block more today, but I was stuck at the office without any internet connection all day. Either the weather in ATL has ish fuxed up or Comcast is just fuxing with us, either way I don’t have a clue of what’s been going on online, so I’m doing some catching up right now.
The first thing I saw when I logged on was this video for “Forever” which I forgot was coming out. Hype Williams shoot the video, and the song is off Lebron James’ More Than A Game soundtrack, that’s why that nucca’s pics are all up through the video. Anyways, the video is cool. Coulda been better but hey, “Swagger Like Us” didn’t even have a video last year. I’m just saying.
Top of the morning to ya. I hope everyone had a great weekend, and that you’re ready for another week here at your favorite blogger’s favorite blog (cliche line, I know). A lot of people hit me up, complaining about my lack of Classic Randomness posts, but my life has been rather hectic of late, and I just haven’t had the time to compile such blogs. But due to the numerous events that took place this weekend, I’m inspired to recap this past weekend in a Classic Randomness: Morning Morning Quarterback style. For those not in the know, the term Morning Quarterback by definition means: a person who, after the event, offers advice or criticism concerning decisions made by others; one who second-guesses. And since the NFL football season kicked off the weekend and I’m a huge football fan (shouts out to Drew Brees, who’s my fantasy quarterback in my Ham Squad league with Playboy Tre, B. Rich and them), I think this is appropriate. Anyways, I’m going to go day by day to recap what was probably the best weekend ever.
Friday
Michael Jordan’s (Me, Me, Me) Basketball Hall of Fame Induction
Friday night started off with the Basketball Hame of Fame inductions of Michael Jordan, as well as NBA greats John Stockton, David Robinson, Jerry Sloan and some other guys but I’m not sure who he was. But since Michael Jordan is probably the greatest basketball player to ever lace up a pair of Nikes, you know the whole thing was basically about him. And if you didn’t know that night was about Michael Jordan, despite the tears, he reminded everyone who’s night it was during his speech. I’m going to paraphrase Jordan’s speech in nucca terms, and the speech kinda sorta went like this:
“Straight up. Ya’ll nuccas can’t fux with me. Ya’ll couldn’t fux with me in high school, college, and ya’ll damn sure couldn’t fux with me when I was in the NBA. Who’s better than Michael Jordan? Nobody. That’s right. I’m that nucca. Six championships. I did that. Nobody else. Oh, well, Scottie Pippen, that nucca held me down too. But other than that, it was me, nucca. Not the Bulls organization…me, nucca. Nobody can stop me. And don’t get it twisted, if I wanted to, I can get on the court right now and drop 40 on ya’ll nuccas. Oh, no, don’t laugh. I ain’t playing. But where was I? Oh, yeah, I’d like to thank myself for being so great. That Pat Riley for recognizing my greatness when I used to bet his teams. And thank Byron Russell for thinking he could guard, but that nucca couldn’t guard me…check the highlights. I lite his ass up (no homo). And as for the next Michael Jordan. AIN’T NO NEXT MICHAEL JORDAN, MUTHAF@CKAS! Thank you. Goodnight”
I mean, he didn’t really say it like that, but that’s how I heard it. The actual speech is below if you want to see it.
Jay-Z – Answer The Call Concert
Hov’s Answer The Call concert was later on Friday night, and I already linked the video footage to The Block here. You might want to go ahead and watch that because that show was dope as hell. Although if you watch it now, it probably won’t be as dope. It was one of those things that you just had to be there (or watch it live online), in the moment to really take in the whole thing, but still just watch if you haven’t.
Saturday
Gamecocks lost to Georgia…what’s new
I don’t really remember anything else going on Saturday other than college football. And the only game I was really into was Georgia vs. South Carolina. It’s tough being a Carolina boy when you live in Georgia, because you always have to stick up for your homestate, thanks to a subpar sports teams and idiot politicians. So, I had a bet with my dude Jason Brown over at AtlantaUrbanMix.com, and since UGA won 41-37 on Saturday, I have to do a video blog, rocking a Georgia Bulldogs shirt and give props to the Dawgs (*sigh*). That’s gonna be tough to do, but I have that on my to do list for the week.
Sunday
Are You Ready For Some (NFL) Football!!
Like I mentioned earlier, the NFL kicked off its 2009-2010 season this week, and yesterday…I don’t know about ya’ll but all I really did was watch football. And from this point on, on Sundays, I’m watching football all day. So, don’t even bother me about sh!t else, because from now until the Super Bowl, I could careless. You gotta love football season.
The VMAs. Kanye Is An Idiot
Also last night, the MTV Video Music Awards were on, but I didn’t watch it. But I did hear about how Kanye West spazzed on Taylor Swift, so you might want to see this:
For what it’s worth, I heard Kanye was drinking Hennessy straight on the red carpet, so that might have had something to do with it. And I saw on Nah Right that he did apologize, kinda sorta, through his blog. You can read that here:
But to be real though, Beyonce’s video wasn’t even like that.
Anyways, those are the major events that took place this weekend. True Blood’s season finale was on last night too, but I missed that. And I’m sure there was some other stuff that went on that I didn’t mention, but for the most part, those events made for the best weekend ever. We’ll see what happens this week though. SMH. That nucca Kanye is crazy.
This must be “remix old Drake records” month. Spotted this at Nah Right. I uploaded the original just for the hell of it (Drake & Weezy went in on that version too).
Drake ft. Kayne West, Lil Wayne & Eminem – “Forever” (prod. Boi-1da)

Download
Bonus: I interviewed Boi-1da not too long ago, who’s the dude that produced “Best I Ever Had,” “Uptown,” this song and a bunch of other sh!t. You can view that here if you wanna.
Update: I stole the official artwork from Nah Right, too. Sue me, eskay.
Blueprint 3 hits on September 11th.
“Even Photoshoot couldn’t change me,” Drizzy.
“Some girls will make you wait longer than AC Green,” Kanye.
Dope lines.
I saw this video over at Kanye’s blog, and I thought people that love artistry would appreciate this. The Fray is a rock band from Denver, that’s probably best known for this song, off their 2005 double platinum first studio album How to Save a Life. But I like this song off their latest album a lot more.
Actually, I think this “Heartless” cover is better than the original. I be honest, I listen to a lot of rock and pop music. Listening to rap music all the time gives me a headache, so when I ride in my car, most of the time I’m listening to Star 94. I don’t post much of it on The Block, because I’m not really up on the genres enough to really comment on it like that. But I think if I had a good rock/pop blog to checkout, I’d probably piggyback off them a little more, so if anyone has any suggestion on some good blogs that are up on that Nickelback, Coldplay, Taylor Swift ish, please let a brother know (although I don’t think I’d leak any music from that genre, white folks seem to take people to jail for leaking their music).
The Fray’s “You Found Me” is after the jump, which is one of my favorite songs right now, and I think I know all the words to, and I’m not even such how that happened.
