I told ya’ll back in July when the Lakers got Ron Artest (just after the 2009-2010 season ended I might add) that L.A. would repeat as champions. This series was epic, but in the end, that’s five rings for Kobe (and Derek Fisher), 11 NBA titles for Phil Jackson as a head coach, and the 16th title for the Los Angeles Lakers organization. This was a great season. Congrats to the Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics tip off the 2010 NBA Finals tonight at 9 pm on ABC. I’m predicting the Lakers to win the series 4-2, but I’m taking all bets.
Well, NBA folks, as ya’ll already know, the 2010 NBA Playoffs is already underway, and since I didn’t get a chance to speak on it yesterday, I’m gonna throw out my picks to win this year’s championship. And you can probably guess from the picture above, I’m going with Kobe and the Lakers to repeat as champions. But if it makes any Lebron James fans feel better, I am picking the Cleveland Cavs to come out the East, and hopefully this year we’ll get to see the NBA Finals that everyone and Nike is dying to see.
I know there are some people that believe in Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic, but I just don’t believe that Vince Carter has enough left to carry the Magic like Hedo Turkoglu did last season, but that’s just me. And I know the Dallas Mavericks have been playing well since they added Caron Butler, but I just don’t see Dirk and his squad making it either.
So, I’m going Kobe vs. Lebron:
Only time will tell, but I’m going 4-3 Lakers in the NBA Finals this year. Put your bets up.
Well, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, as you can see R.E. has been on Xmas vacay, and I haven’t updated The Block much at all lately. But since I’ve pretty much punting it (“punting” that’s the new one, you know, like “kicking it”), I decided to post on The Block for a few hours and try to get things back up to speed over here. I’ve been on my CharlestonColumbiaCharlotte ish, you know hanging with fam, friends, girlfriend(s), your girlfriend (ya’ll know how I do by now) in the Carolinas. I will say that Xmas was cool this year. Partying & bullsh!t is always fun. Plus I saw Avatar in 3D, so I think I’ll write a review for that in a minute.
For those of you that watched the Lakers vs. Cavs last night, I’m sure ya’ll saw the Nike puppet “Dunking On Reindeer” commercial with Kobe, Lebron and Santa. Maaaaaan, that ish was so funny, I about chocked on some eggnog. If you missed it, luckily everything is on youtube, so I posted it above. That’s one of the best commercials I’ve seen in awhile.
Anyways, I’m about to drop about 10-12 posts, so I feel free to spend your post-Christmas Saturday right here on The Block with me.
“Dunking on that reindeer, dunking on that reindeer, dunk, dunk, dunk, dunking on that reindeer.”
Well, ladies and gentlemen, tonight is the start of the new NBA season, and since basketball is my favorite sport (although football is my favorite sporting season), nothing else really matters right now. And since I’m so big on basketball, I’m gonna declare this week as NBA Week on The Block, so that means a lot of my post (not all) will be NBA basketball related. My fantasy b-ball team is drafted and ready, and I will be home by the time the Celtics and Cavs tip off the season on TNT at 7:30.
I don’t know about the rest of ya’ll but considering that the Lakers basically have the same team from last year, plus they added Ron Artest, I don’t see anyone fuxing with them, and I’m predicting them to be back to back NBA Champions. The only thing I can see keeping them from winning another championship is if Ron Artest goes crazy and starts another brawl. Or if Kobe gets caught up trying to go backdoor on another unsuspecting white girl. And they might wanna check to see if Lamar Odom is mentality stable for marrying that Kardashian girl (I mean, if it was Kim, I could understand, but he married the busted one. But I digress). Notwithstanding, those off the court issues shouldn’t stop the Lake Show, and I don’t see any team in the NBA fuxing with Kobe & Co. That’s why I’m picking them to win the title once again.
Coming out of the East, I do like the LeBron James and Shaq to lead Cleveland to the NBA Finals, over the new Magic, but I still don’t see either one of those teams hanging with Kobe’s crew.
Anyways, I could sit here and talk basketball all day. I got this one girl that wants me to go to the movies and see Paranormal Activity with her. But I told her the World Series is about to start up, football is in midseason, and the NBA season begins tonight, so I’m not sure if the movies could fit into my schedule. She wasn’t too pleased about that, but she’ll be aight. It’s basketball season, baby. Nothing else really matters.
Congratulations to the LA Lakers, who just won the 2009-2010 NBA title, making them back to back NBA champs. I know what you’re thinking, the NBA season hasn’t even started yet…hell, the season just ended. Well, this is true. But the NBA offseason is underway and every year it’s like watching a movie (well, to me at least). The NBA Draft was the other night, but I didn’t get to give a full recap like I did last year. And the NBA free agency signing period just began, and anyone that knows anything about sports should that 1) This is when all hell breaks loose in the NBA. 2) It’s more exciting than the entire Major League Baseball season.
So far Vince Carter went to the Orlando Magic, Richard Jefferson joined the San Antonio Spurs and Shaq is a fuxing ring whore Cleveland Cavalier. And not only that, Allen Iverson might end up in Chicago or Memphis, Jason Kidd got and offer from the NY Knicks, and Rasheed Wallace is getting courted by the Boston Celtics (I know people that don’t watch sports have no idea what I’m talking about right now). But the most important signing thus far is Ron Artest joining the LA Lakers. It’s like the rich get richer. Hell, the Lakers just won a championship, and now you add Artest to Paul Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom and of course, Kobe Byrant. Yeah, I know Ron Artest is known to go Queensbridge on a nucca, but that’s in the past. He’s not as 7:30 as he once was. And with that said, once again, congrats to the Lakers for winning another ring last night. Yeah, you never know what might happen, and my predictions are premature, but fux that. Them nuccas are gonna win again (and I’m not even a Lakers fan). Watch.
Don’t sleep, this dude went on national TV and said the word, “hoodalize.” SMH. It’s gonna be another good NBA season.
I’m using this picture for 3 reasons. 1) I know yall hate Kobe and I wanna throw it in your face. 2) Although you hate Kobe, you can’t not love his adorable daughters. 3) I just love looking it his wife (Sorry, she’s fine). New playlist, ya’ll.
