Pump It or Dump It?

I don’t know much of anything about his Kourvioisier guy, but he’s from Durham, NC and my girl Nanci O submitted this for Pump It or Dump It. So here’s his Twitter and Facebook, and you guys should know what to do from here.

Pump It or Dump It?

Kourvioisier – “The Game Needs Me”

I can’t provide any background on Top Notch Hollywood, but I know Yung Tee is a cat from the Met. The homie $5 directed this video, but I can’t give ya’ll anymore than that…

Pump it or Dump it?

I don’t know much about Monopoly, but they had a song poppin’ not too long ago called “Work 2 Columbia,” were they sampled Jeezy’s “get that work to Columbia, that’s South Carolina” line from “The Recession (Intro).” Other than that and the fact that they’re from Columbia, SC, I don’t know much about these dudes. Anyways, my fam forwarded this video over to me and asked what I thought…so I figured lets just ask the homies on The Block. So what yall think?

Pump It or Dump It?

Today’s Pump It or Dump It selection comes from an artist from St. Louis by the name Gena, not to be confused with Gina from Martin. I don’t know much about him but the homie Xilla shot this over and I think this dude has a little buzz growing out in the Mid West. But other than that…

Ok, yall know the rules. Pump It or Dump It?

I took a couple weeks off from Pump It or Dump It, but eff it, it’s back. This week I got a cat out of Columbus, Ohio name Armond that hit me on Twitter about getting featured, so here goes. I believe this song is off a mixtape he either put out or is about to put out. I didn’t research enough to find out, but if you’re interested you can hit his website here.

I started Pump It or Dump It back in February or March of 2009, and the idea was for Block readers give artists feedback on their music, instead of me having to do it every single time. But what it has turned into is featured artists getting their homeboys to come to The Block and say “Pump It!!,” “This is hot! Pump It”" or “Pump, pump, pump it up!!!” without any type of constructive criticism whatsoever. And that wasn’t my intent. I’m actually trying to find another way to do Pump It or Dump It  features and eliminate people that never ever visited this site from commenting just to support their homeboy when their song is featured because that’s not doing anything but giving these artists false hope on their musical aspirations. I’m looking for suggestions, so if anyone has any ideas then let me know. Otherwise I might have to retire Pump It or Dump it and keep it moving.

Anyways, back when I first started this, Rich G. was one of the first featured. You can take a look at that here. Well, Rich G. set over a new track to give Pump or Dump another go. I actually didn’t realize this was the same kid from before until I looked at his myspace page earlier today. Actually, I’m pretty sure this kid called me a hoe on Twitter. I’m not sure if it’s because I didn’t follow him or respond to his replies to me, or if it’s because I didn’t respond to his email when he sent me this track. But I’ve been called a lot worse in my time of journalism and blogger, and I really don’t give a shit either way. I’m a grown ass man, I know how to network and conduct myself with individuals in the music business, and I don’t have to take to name calling on social networks when I don’t get my way. But I understand this little nucca doesn’t know any better, so I’m still going to post his song.

So, Rich G. stated in his email: “i got a new track, its been gettin buzz off twitter” and “no offense, i think im bedda dan alot of the other niggas who’s gettin their music posted on your site.”  Plus he produced this track himself and nobody helped him, so all that really does deserve a golf clap.

But yeah. You all can continue on with the same Pump It or Dump It routine as always. Just leave your Pump It or Dump It comments and feedback in the comment section. If I don’t figure something else out soon I’ll probably end this feature all together. You ungrateful bastards…

This kid Jigg (who’s down with the young homie Quell Keith) hit me on Twitter and wanted to get his song a spin on The Block for Pump It or Dump It. No problem, Jigg.

Well, ya’ll know the routine (although I might need to tweak the system, but we’ll just have to keep it as is until I figure out something else).

I know it’s Monday Morning and I usually don’t do Pump It or Dump It until Wednesday, but Wise is a dude I pretty much meet through Twitter. He resides in the A, so I’ve chopped it up with him at a couple events, but I had no idea he rapped (well, I shoulda known since everybody raps nowadays). Anyways, Wise hit me up and asked if I could post his song “Venting” on Monday, and since he’s good people I don’t mind looking our for my brethren. But you know I have to feed him to the wolves first (sorry, Wise. That’s how it goes down on The Block).

So, you guys know the rules. If you like Wise’s track, leave a Pump It comment, and I’ll post more of his music. If you’re not feeling it, leave a Dump It comment, and you won’t see Wise again around these parts. But if you wanna hear more, he does have his own blog DeepStandards.com, so you can check him out over there.
