Jay Electronica feat. Mobb Deep – “Call Of Duty: MW3″

Well ladies and gentles, it’s offiicial. J. Cole’s debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story is the #1 album in the country after selling 217,825 copies in it’s first week.

Congratulations to J. Cole, Roc Nation, Dreamville. Carolina finally got one.

According to, which projects album sales after their first day of sales, J. Cole’s debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story, is projected to sell 225,000 to 250,000 units in its first week. Those are pretty solid numbers for Cole considering he didn’t have a major single getting radio play and this being his first album.

That’s a good ass look though, especially for a dude from Fayetteville, North Carolina. It’s been about two years since I first stumbled on Cole’s music, and it’s always good to see a talented artist grow, develop and succeed.

From HitsDailyDouble:

The album, which features collaborations with his mentor, as well as Trey Songz, Drake and Missy Elliott, has surpassed even label expectations with prospects of a sales total approaching 225-250k its first week. Cole had steadily built a following with a trio of well-received mixtapes, including last year’s Friday Night Lights.

Cole just finished a stint as the opening act on the just-concluded Rihanna Loud tour, where rumors of a steamy romance and sex tape have filled the Internet blogosphere, though it’s being roundly denied. She appears in the video for the album’s second single, “Can‘t Get Enough,” shot in her native Barbados with Cole and Trey Songz after the tour ended.

Congratulations to J. Cole and his entire crew. Carolina all day.

“Daddy’s Little Girl” is an iTunes bonus on J. Cole’s Cole World album, and it’s one of the standouts in my opinion. Cole’s album drops on Tuesday.

Cole Word. 9/27.

Cole World: The Sideline Story drops on September 27th.

*Updated to the dirty version.

People give J. Cole a hard time for not putting out an album yet since he’s been signed to Roc Nation for three years, but people fail to realize it takes time to build a following and prepare a new artist for a debut album. While I doubt J. Cole will come out doing Drake numbers when his debut finally does drop in a couple weeks, I do expect Cole World: The Sideline Story to be one of the best albums of 2011 and thus solidify Cole’s spot as one of the best new rappers in the game.

I mean, T.I. didn’t do number when he his first album, I’m Serious, came out. One album doesn’t make or break a career if it doesn’t sell. As long as it’s quality music, J. Cole’s talent can’t be denied.

And I’m not going to get into a whole spill about how he’s the best rapper the Carolinas have ever since (no, Petey Pablo). I’m just going to let that one hang…

But yeah, J. Cole’s “Cole World” tour is underway, and it’ll be stopping through Atlanta on Sunday, October 2nd. I don’t know where you all will be but I’ll be there.

Hit the jump for Cole’s Cosmic Kev freestyle over “Ima Boss” and “Otis.”
